"I got this card for my kid..."
I got this card for my kid because I liked the idea of them having a little independence while still being able to keep an eye on spending. The app is easy to use, and when the card works, it does what I need it to do.

The frustrating part is that it gets declined more than I expected. Some stores take it just fine, but then other completely normal places won’t, and there’s no obvious reason why. We’ve also had the same issue online, even when there was definitely money available on the card.
So I’m kind of torn. I like the concept and some parts of it are convenient, but it’s stressful when my kid is out somewhere and the card suddenly doesn’t work. For something meant to make things easier, the acceptance issues really take away from it

I liked the idea of having one place to track chores and allowance for my kids, and when it works, it’s handy. It’s just been more frustrating than I expected because chores don’t always show up the way I set them, and completed tasks can get confusing.

The reminders haven’t been super reliable for us, and editing chores feels a bit clunkier than it needs to be. I was hoping it would make allowance tracking simpler, but so far it’s added more work on my end, so I’m not totally convinced it’s worth the monthly fee.

I tried to sign up, but it was way more frustrating than it needed to be. Pages were loading strangely, and I had to type the same information in more than once, which gets old fast. It also started asking for details before I even really understood what I was signing up for, and common sense says people should know what they’re getting into first. After a while I just gave up. Not a great first impression.

"My kid gets frustrated and we feel left in the dark"
My son uses the app, but he says it logs him out a lot and the chores don’t update quickly. The card itself works fine, but when the app is acting up, it’s hard to tell what’s going on or whether things actually went through. It leaves us feeling a bit in the dark, and he gets frustrated with it.

"I was disappointed with the investing..."
I was disappointed with the investing side of the app. The options weren’t very clear, and it felt like I had to go through too many steps just to figure out what I could actually do. In the end, it didn’t feel all that useful and left me more frustrated than confident.

"Amounts didnt match in the app"
My kid used the card at a store and the app showed a different amount for almost a full day which was frustrating. Then another pending charge looked like it got doubled too, and when I reached out to support they basically just said to wait
Maybe it sorts itself out eventually, but now I dont really trust the balance. For a kids money card, showing the right transactions feels like the one thing it really needs to get right

"Spending alerts come in way too late"
The spending alerts are never real time for me. By the time I get a notification, the purchase already happened a while ago, which kind of defeats the purpose. I’ve asked about it, but it feels like I just get the usual policy excuse instead of an actual fix. Frustrating.

"Didn’t live up to what I expected for the price"
I went in expecting this to feel a lot more useful for the monthly fee, but it just didn’t really get there for me. The app itself works fine and isn’t hard to use, but once the subscription and extra little charges added up, it felt more expensive than it should be. For what I needed, there are cheaper ways to keep track of kid spending. I ended up cancelling because it didn’t feel worth the cost

"We’ve been using Greenlight for my son for..."
We’ve been using Greenlight for my son for a while now, and overall it’s been a good experience. He likes having “his own card,” and I like being able to see where his money is going without constantly asking him.
The only annoying part is that a few purchases have been declined even though there was money available. Usually it worked after trying again or checking the settings, but it still felt a little “random.” I’d give it 4 stars overall, just hoping the declines become less of a thing.

The card itself works fine for my kid, and it’s been okay for things like allowance. My biggest frustration is trying to find an ATM that won’t charge extra fees, it’s more of a hassle than I expected. The app doesn’t make it especially clear where to go either. Overall, I’d say it’s decent for everyday use, but the ATM access definitely needs improvement before I’d fully recommend it.

"Took a while to get the card going"
My kid’s card came a bit later than I thought it would, and getting it activated was kind of a hassle. I had to mess with it a few times before it finally worked. The app seems okay overall, but the first setup was just not very smooth

"I got frustrated trying to..."
I got frustrated trying to cancel my Greenlight account. I expected it to be something simple I could do in the app, but instead I had to search around and eventually reach out to support. It just felt like they were making it harder on purpose, which left a bad taste for me. When you’re already ready to stop using a service, you don’t want to feel stuck or pushed to jump through extra hoops just to stop paying.

"The fees weren’t clear enough for me"
I signed up thinking the pricing would be straightforward, but once I started looking at the different plans and features, it felt like there was always another fee attached to something.
I’ll admit I tend to focus on the main price first and only skim the details unless something jumps out, but in this case the page didn’t make it easy to see what the total cost would actually be. I clicked around for a while and still didn’t feel totally sure.
It might be fine for families who don’t mind comparing every little add-on, but I don’t like being surprised by charges later. I ended up canceling because the fee structure just wasn’t clear enough for me

"Bank linking was a frustrating mess"
Linking my bank was way more annoying than it should’ve been. It only worked after a few tries, and that’s on them for making the process so clunky.

"Helpful app, but kinda flaky sometimes"
Greenlight is handy when it’s actually working, but it does freeze up on me or randomly log me out sometimes. It’s not a huge deal, just annoying when I’m trying to check my kid’s balance real quick and the app decides to be weird lol...

"I had to wait much longer than..."
I had to wait much longer than expected for my replacement card to arrive. It was frustrating being without it for so long, and by the time it finally showed up, I just felt relieved but also disappointed with the whole experience.

"Parental controls are more frustrating than helpful"
I got Greenlight mainly for the parental controls, but they’re kind of a headache. The settings aren’t very clear, and sometimes when I make a change, it takes forever to actually show up. I don’t have the patience to keep opening the app over and over just to make sure spending limits are working. I just wanted something simple that lets me set limits and move on, but this has been annoying.

"Allowance basically runs itself now"
This has made handling allowance so much easier for us. I don’t have to keep track of everything manually anymore, which is a relief. I guess the setup took me a minute to figure out, but it wasn’t a big deal once I got going.

"Refund went smoothly"
I asked for a refund and, it was handled without any hassle. It’s just nice when a company does the decent thing and makes the process simple. Got my money back, so I’m satisfied.
